The first of 4 volumes making up Preston Swirnoff's solo project 'Haunted Sea Songs of Bahia', inspired by the folk music of the legendary Brazilian composer Dorival Caymmi. The recordings are raw, stripped down performances, with Swirnoff on classical guitar, singing in Portuguese; mostly recorded live with no multi-tracking or overdubs. Recommended for those who like dreamy, dark, otherworldly sea shanties.

Side A: É Doce Morrer no Mar / It's Sweet to Die in the Sea
The legendary ballad written by Caymmi, with lyrics by the great novelist and poet Jorge Amado.

Side B: Lamento do Gaviero / Lookout's Lament
Swirnoff's melancholy sailor theme with an eerie percussive backdrop.

All 4 volumes to be released on super limited lathe-cut 7" vinyl. These square records are thicker than traditional flexis but thinner than normal vinyl. They do not degrade on successive plays.
Each record comes in a clear sleeve and includes full color labels, handprinted numbered insert with credits, and a dried flower. Purchase includes free download.

Only a few to be sold online here and through select distros. The rest will be available at live shows on the West Coast in May 2016. SOLD OUT
